CAIPIRINHA

Cachaça, a spirit indigenous to Brazil, is distilled directly from the juice of sugar cane. The Caipirinha has made cachaça popular in many countries.

INGREDIENTS 

1 lime

2 brown sugar cubes

50 ml cachaça

sugar syrup, to taste

METHOD

Cut the lime into eighths, squeeze and place in an old-fashioned glass with the sugar cubes, then pound well with a pestle.

Fill the glass with crushed ice and add the cachaça. Stir vigorously and add sugar syrup, to taste. Serve with two straws.
